ETEC’s ceramic inrun track system again awarded for excellent performance
The most prestigious award is involved – and ETEC is participating. For the year 2008, the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology (MMWi) nominated ETEC’s ceramic inrun tracsk ystem for ski jumping hills for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany. It is not possible to apply for this highly coveted award but the individual candidates are nominated by the BMWi via the German Design Council. The fact alone of belonging to this special circle of award nominees is already a high distinction.
This award was conceived to reward outstanding achievements in the field of product design. Decisive factors for the appraisal are, among others, technical innovation, fitness for use, benefits for mankind and sustainability.
Following the awards received before such as Materialica Design Award 2006 and iF material award 2007, the nomination for the official design award of the Federal Republic of Germany was the crowning achievement of a long standing and intense product development of ETEC Gesellschaft für Technische Keramik mbH. With the neps made by the experts in Lohmar (<country-region w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Germany</place></country-region>) ski jumping becomes possible at any time of the year under conditions similar to real snow.
The jumping hill at Bischofshofen (belonging to the Four Hills Tournament), the jumping hills at <place w:st="on">Torino</place> as well as the one at Klingenthal (Saxonia) are just three famous ski jumping facilities equipped with ETEC’s ceramic inrun track system.
The Design Award 2008 Jury is independent, and its members are experts from industry, universities, design and media, being appointed by the BMWi. The jury’s evaluation will take place in Frankfurt am Main on August 16th and 17th, 2007. The jury’s results will be published during the month of September 2007, the Awards Ceremony will be held in line with the opening of the Ambiente Exhibition 2008 in <place w:st="on">Frankfurt</place>.
