Nominated for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany

The ceramic/steel ball valve manufactured by CeramTec-ETEC GmbH was nominated for the Design Award 2010 of the Federal Republic of Germany by the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology. The Design Award was conceived to reward outstanding achievements in the field of product design for serial products of all industrial sectors. Decisive factors for appraisal are, for example, technical and creative innovation, fitness for use, benefits for mankind and sustainability.

An independent and and compentent ten member jury decides on which product is awarded, and the committee appointed by the Federal Minister of Economics for a period of four years is composed of representatives from industry, universities, design and media.

CeramTec-ETEC’s ball valve, awarded several times in the past, takes advantage of the outstanding properties of two high-quality materials: the ball valve consists of steel, and the passage area is protected by a high-performance ceramic sleeve made of ALOTEC. The synergy effect: whereas theand the ceramic lining housing effortlessly absorbs the driving power, the ceramic lining ensures efficient wear protection. Compared to other standard solutions, this highly hard-wearing design substantially helps reduce costs. It can be integrated into existing equipment at any time.

Owing to this innovative new product, CeramTec-ETEC was now nominated the third consecutive time for the Design Award – this Award is given to products which sustainably save energy and along with it, CO2 emission.
