For the first time during its company history of nearly 25 years, ETEC Gesellschaft für Technische Keramik mbH received one of the traditional and highly coveted iF material awards. Among 120 candidates competing to receive this award, 18 of them were waiting to celebrate the final decision of the jury during this year's Hannover Fair. Norbert Rulands, ETEC's Marketing and Business Development Manager, accepted the trophy with pleasure in representation of all ETEC staff members.
ETEC was awarded for its inrun track system with ceramic neps developed for ski jumps all over the world, for example for the Olympic ski jumps in <place w:st="on">Torino</place>, in Bischofshofen or in Klingenthal (Thuringia/Germany). By means of this innovative system, all ski jumpers have always the same conditions to establish new records even without the presence of snow - both in summer and in wintertime. Four categories were valued: the material and material application, the product, the conception and the procedure.
The selection committee set a high value on the spectrum of submitted work and the complexitiy of the subject: "Most of the proposals sumitted to the jury's evaluation are established on a very high level, and an evidence for it is the prevailing high quality of materials technology. Furthermore, it becomes very clear once more that materials play a decisive role in the field of engineering and design of new products", said a member of the jury. Visitors to the Hannover Fair could convince themselves of this statement during a special presentation where all awarded products were shown.
iF has become internationally known since 1954 when the iF design award was organized for the first time, and it is considered today as one of the most important design competitions in the world. Whoever is awarded the coveted iF label ("iF product design award", "iF communications design award" or "iF material award") by the competent and international jury, is certainly amoung the best ones within the industrial sector concerned.
ETEC has a leading position worldwide as a supplier of high-tech solutions for industrial wear and corroson protection, based on high-performance ceramics, as well as for ceramics components for ballistic protection.
