The compact bend manufactured by ETEC Gesellschaft für Technische Keramik mbH was nominated for the Design Award by the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology (MMWi). The Design Award was conceived to reward outstanding achievements in the field of product design for serial products of all industrial sectors.
Decisive factors of appraisal are, for example, technical and creative innovation, fitness for use, benefits for mankind and sustainability.
An independent and and compentent ten member jury decides on which product is to be awarded, and the committee appointed by the Federal Minister of Economics for a period of four years is composed of representatives from industry, universities, design and media.
ETEC’s compact bend is a groundbreaking product for wear protection applications, suitable for pipeline systems for industrial and plant engineering. For the first time, this product allows for installing high-tech wear protection liners with radii of less than 500 mm. In places where up to now impact absorbers were used which are quite bulky, not performing efficiently and quite energy consuming, now it is possible to integrate ETEC’s compact bend 1:1, lined with ALOTEC high-performance ceramics.
This product, already filed for patent, was awarded the Innovation Award 2007 by the Volksbank Bonn Rhein-Sieg, and with the iF material award 2008 – two highly important awards. In September 2008 it will be decided if a further top award can be expected now, and even the nomination by itself means a great honour to ETEC staff members.
