Even for the smallest of spaces: Bends with ceramic liner

From now on, it’s possible: Radiuses smaller than 500 mm

A new dimension of wear protection in the field of pneumatic conveying of bulk materials was recently created at Lohmar. With a new development, a compact ceramic-lined tube bend, ETEC Gesellschaft für Technische Keramik mbH has succeeded in disclosing a new field of application which up to now has previously not yet been accessible for ceramic wear protection: bends and narrow elbows. Now it is possible to replace metal impact absorbers used up to now by ETEC’s latest innovation – the compact tube bend lined with ALOTEC high-performance ceramics.

Bends with extremely narrow radiuses, and on top of it lined with ceramics, have been inconceivable up to now. In exceptional cases, the nominal width of the exterior tube had to be one or two sizes larger than the nominal passage width. This type of construction, however, always required to use a reducing flange. Now ETEC has developed a new technique and filed a patent according to which it is possible to produce bends with a nominal width from DN 50 to DN 250, and with a radius of 200 up to 500 mm. Due to the new design, the nominal width of the flange is identical to the nominal passage width.

This new product provides various advantages. Due to the ceramic liner, these bends are highly wear resistant and thus have a notably longer service life. In this way, they are far more economical in comparison to hitherto existing systems. In addition, they allow for highly material-protecting conveying of the media to be conveyed, and they permit to keep conveying pressures at a constant level.

Existing impact absorbers can be replaced at any time 1:1 by compact ceramic-lined tube bends made by ETEC.

This new product is another evidence of ETEC’s innovation, proving again its position as a provider of solutions for complete wear protection systems. For decades, ETEC’s technological experts are convinced that alumina is the best possible base material. As the blast wear test with quartz sand doubtlessly shows, in comparison to cast basalt, cast corundum, steel, cast iron or overlay welding, ETEC’s material ALOTEC 92 (alumina) has far better results in relation to volume wear.
