Commitment to local projects
It is the objective of the citizens’ foundation Lohmar (BürgerStiftungLohmar) to initiate, promote or coordinate many different kinds of projects of municipal life. These projects may refer to schooling and education, art and culture, traditions, local heritage and history, international understanding, sports, environment and nature, animal protection, protection of historic buildings and monuments, youth welfare service, service for the elderly or public welfare. The Citizens’ Foundation Lohmar (BürgerStiftungLohmar) is open for every person wishing to provide personal or financial support, or to bring forward new ideas.
ETEC Gesellschaft für Technische Keramik mbH is a company rich in tradition located in the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis (Rhine-Sieg County). For about 20 years ETEC had been located in Siegburg, and since 2002 the company moved to the city of Lohmar. The majority of ETEC’s employees and workers is living in Lohmar or in the immediate vicinity of Lohmar. ETEC’s Managing Director Achim Haas says: “Therefore, it is for us a matter of course to be near them.” Numerous commitments, not only relating to sports and culture, are giving evidence of this statement.
Hence, at the occasion of ETEC’s 25th anniversary it seems to be but logical to spotlight these strong ties to the region where ETEC is located. Consequently, the ETEC Management decided to make an endowment contribution in the amount of EUR 10,000 to the citizens’ foundation Lohmar (BürgerStiftungLohmar).
On Juny 12th 2007, four days after the anniversary day, Haas handed out to the Foundation an oversized symbolical cheque representing the donation. In the presence of the governing mayor Wolfgang Röger, the chairwoman of the foundation Renate Krämer, the chairman of the board of trustees Helmut Otto and the manager of the foundation Gabriele Willscheid were glad to accept the endowment with pleasure.
Celebrations during this anniversary year will reach their peak on August 25th when festivities will be held at the company’s headquarters at Lohmar, An der Burg Sülz. ETEC’s staff members and their families will also be invited to participate in this event.
ETEC supplies high-tech technological solutions for industrial wear and corrosion protection, based on high performance ceramics, as well as ceramic components for ballistic protection.
